Moleculent is now hiring an experienced Software Lead to take ownership of the development of a next-generation product for life science analysis. This includes shaping technical architecture, driving development, and building a high-performing software team.

THE ROLE

As Software Lead at Moleculent, you will manage a small team of Software Developers and Test Engineers. You will support and guide the team, contribute to recruitment, and help build a collaborative and high-performing culture.

This role combines technical leadership with people and delivery responsibility. You are expected to stay close enough to the technology to support architectural decisions when needed.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead and support an agile team of 5-10 developers and test engineers

• Drive architectural decisions and ensure software quality

• Plan and execute development work, from backlog to delivery

• Collaborate with stakeholders to align priorities and goals

• Work closely with users and customers to ensure the product delivers value

You will work in a technically complex environment spanning embedded and system-level software, including instrument control, data processing and user-facing applications. The stack is primarily Python-based in a Linux environment, with elements of asynchronous processing, multithreading and distributed services. The environment also includes modern tooling for containerization, CI/CD and system integration (e.g. Docker, gRPC/REST).

While the role is primarily focused on leadership, a solid technical understanding is important.

Moleculent is a dynamic startup, and you should be comfortable stepping in where needed to support the team.

QUALIFICATIONS

You have a degree in software engineering, computer science or a related field, and experience leading software teams.

You bring a solid technical background and feel comfortable contributing to architectural discussions and guiding technical decisions, even if you are not coding daily.

Experience working with complex software products, particularly within data processing or distributed systems, is highly valuable. Experience within Life Science is a plus.

Your background likely includes:

• Experience as a software developer, working with modern architectures and development practices

• Familiarity with embedded or system-level software (e.g. Python, multithreading, hardware-near systems)

• Experience leading development teams, ideally with line management responsibility

• Experience working with distributed systems or asynchronous processes

Practical information

This is a full-time, permanent position based in Solna, Stockholm.
